Classic Negroni

The Classic Negroni

Created to be sipped the classic Negroni incorporates equal parts of Gin, Sweet Vermouth and Campari.

Like many cocktails, there are stories about where and when the Negroni was actually created. The most common story is the Negroni was created by Count Camillo Negroni when he requested a bartender create a stronger version of his favourite cocktail, an Americano, by replacing the soda with gin and changing the garnish to orange to complement the ingredients within the cocktail.

Others believe that Pascal Negroni created the cocktail half a century before Count Camillo Negroni’s take on an Americano. Around the 1870s, during high ranking military meetings, Pascal Negroni would create his signature Vermouth based cocktail, which is now believed to be the original Negroni.

Regardless of who created it we can all agree just how delicious and adaptable this classic drink can be! It's one of the most versatile gin cocktails that has inspired bartenders for years, check out two of our very own Bartender adaptations of this classic below;

Negroni #1

Created by Connor from Be At One Cardiff.

Unlike a traditionally made Negroni which is stirred and built over ice in an old-fashioned or rocks glass our Negroni #1 is shaking things up.

Mezcal Verde, Velvet Falernum, Campari, Pineapple juice and Lime shaken to perfection and served in a chilled coupe glass.

Negroni #2

Created by Kallum from Be At One Brindley Place.

The Negroni but make it sweet and of course add a little spice! Fruity scents of dried apricots, cherries and cranberries mingle with strong flavours of anise, smoked paprika and hints of smoking pine wood.

Malfy Pink Gin, Campari, Chamberyzette and Creole bitters stirred, built over ice and topped with dehydrated grapefruit.
